This week´s match was an open and was held on the Embalse de Ojos at Blanca.
This venue is not well liked by many people, but I think it is a proper fishing venue
where you do have to work hard for fish. Again though, the venue did not let us down with some blanks.
In saying that, the winning weight was not too shabby.
The day started cold, 6+ degree´s but come midday, people were shedding their fleece´s.
The warmer climes of course brings out the small flies, horrid little things that crawl up your nose
in your eyes and ears. However, enough of the highlights of the day.
The normal good pegs produced, however, the winner did exceptionally well from his peg.
Top places as follows.

1st Terry ( Swing E´m ) Screen fishing the feeder using maggot with 11.220 kilo´s.

2nd Lenny ( Excultural Attachee ) Bolton fishing the pole using paste and pellet with 8.940 kilo´s.

3rd Doug ( Welsh Goldminer ) Hornblow fishing the pole using pellet with 5.980 kilo´s.

Hondon Trucha.

9 Members visited Hondon for an afternoon session, but due to the Trout spawning

 they seemed reluctant to take the fly or bait as readily as usual. 

We managed to catch a few though. 

One consolation was that it was a hot sunny afternoon with no wind making fly fishing a joy. 

Everyone enjoyed the mince pies and coffee and are looking forward to their next visit in 

January or February (but with no mince pies). 

Thanks to Jan for his help in making it a successful afternoon.

 

Anglers Together continues to grow as a club with firm friendships being formed over

 the last 2/3 years.  Many members fish regularly and report they are pleased to rejoin a sport they followed in their youth.  We have the occasional organized outing but the aim mainly is to introduce members to find fishing companions, and to assist in finding the venues.

The joining fee is €10 for new members and €5 for renewing members.

Sunday 13th December.
Venue. Watersmeet.
Club. Watersmeet.
Breakfast, and Draw. 8.00am.
Fish. 9.30am - 2.30pm.
8 Anglers fished.


We started the day with Breakfast, in the restaurant of the Watersmeet pub.
The Breakfast cost £5.50, and when you look at the photograph, after the match report,
you will see it was worth every penny.The plates are that big, you could use it, as a platform,
for your tackle box.

Took a few photos today, but had to discard most of them, as they were all blury. The camera is
my spare one,as my best one i dropped in a puddle a few weeks ago.Hopefully i will get a new one
for Christmas.
I have over one thousand people read my blog,and i have only had 22 click's on the Google ads.
So i have earnt £4.50 in two months, not going to buy me a camera at this rate. I have put the Camera on my
Christmas list, but with the recession, i ain't going to hold my breath.So i need to rely on you guys too
click the ad's.


The draw.

Everybody wanted peg 6, as this as won for the last three years on the trot.
You only need an half decent angler on this peg to win the match, so when you get an out, and out silver
fish angler draw it, you know you are fishing for second.
For some reason i did'nt get to draw a number, as i was last on the list, and had what was left.
Can't work that one out, as i was the first to turn up at the Venue. Anyway i had peg 7, one away
from the flyer. Does'nt sound to far away does it. But considering peg 6 is a corner peg on the carpark side.
and peg 7 was half way up the bank, on the far bank, it was a long way away. With the weather being cold,
and frosty these last couple of nights, we thought we were in for an hard day.




The Match.

The all in went at 9-30am. The water was coloured, which was quite a shock for this time of year,so the
liquidised bread, and punch stayed in the bag. Fished the pole at 12.5 metres in 5 foot of water.
My bait was, Groundbait, 50-50 supercup, and secret, red Squatt for feed, and flourescent pinkies for
the hook. Cupped one small ball of Groundbait, and about 20 Squatt's into my swim. Used double pinkie on the hook.
First bite came after only five minutes, and a nice skimmer of about 5oz's was staring at me from the bottom
of my landing net.I don't know who was more suprised, him or me.I decided not to re-feed, and see if there was another fish there. Waited for ten minutes, and nothing, so i re-fed with a handful of Squatts through
the toss pot. Peg 6 was starting to perform, with Barry on the Feeder.I was watching from across the lake as he was landing a decent sized skimmer. Looked back at my float, and it was'nt there, so i lifted to a nice clunk, and my number 4 elastic stretching out. A nice bream for about 2, and a half pound came to the net.
Trevor to my left on peg 8 started to catch as well. As he was setting up, he again fell over, that's three
weeks on the trot now. I suggested, probably to loudly, that we should all chip in, and buy him a zimmer frame.
That was met with a lot of laughter, except from trevor, who for some reason said he was going to throw me in. So being the Gentleman i'am, i went and gave him a hand up.(senial old sod).
But give him is due he got is own back, finishing second overall. Myself, and trevor where the only two on this side of the lake.We had  a big hedge behind us, which was about 4 to 5 feet away from are tackle boxes, a nightmare for pole fishing. The other down side to this hedge, was the Sun was behind it all day, so we were cold, while the anglers on the other bank had it shining on them for most of the match.
My match went quite steady throughout with a few decent skimmers coming to the net.
For this time of year, every one had a good day, with everybody weighing in.
Did peg 6 come through again. Bet your sweet arse it did. Just take a look at the result.
Well done Barry, 38lb-14oz's an exceptional silverfish weight  for this time of year.
(well for are standard anyway).

 As its own Website, so if your looking for good fishing, and good food this is the place.

Its private fishing only. For residents who stay at the pub. The owner kindly gives us permission to fish here

once a year, so we fish it this time of year, when there are not many residents.

The watersmeet as 3 lakes. The bigger being the one we fished. It is solid with Skimmers, and bream, it also

as a good head of carp. The second lake is mainly Tench, with a smattering of other species.

The front lake, as i can remember from fishing it years ago, is mainly carp. So there is something for eveyone.

About 3 or 4 miles away is the famous Tirley Court, where the carp crawl up your rods, to introduce themselves.

So if your looking for a week or two's fishing holiday, check out there website.

This week saw the club at the Embalse de Pedrera, for the last match in the President´s Trophy series. The series being 4 matches with all to count. The venue fished bad is an under statement, of the 19 anglers who fished, only 8 caught!!!!!. It appears that the venue is going from bad to worse. The water level had dropped a couple of feet and the water temperature is cold. Whether this has anything to do with it, who knows??.

Top anglers on the day as follows

1^st Bill ( The Master ) Reade fishing the waggler using maggot with 14.42 kilo´s.

2^nd Terry ( Swing E´m ) Screen same method and bait with 10.440 kilo,s.

3^rd Pete ( The Peg ) Hampshire same method and bait with 6.400 kilo,s.

CARPRÚS

The 6th round of the Winter league was fished on the River Segura in Murcia Town centre  on Thursday November 26th.
The river had a dirty colour, mainly due to the works now being carried out by the Local Water Authority and because of this all the pegs were put upstream of the road bridge.
A recent drop in temperature, rain and strong winds all tried to spoil the day but some fish were caught and the results on the day were.

1^st  Paul Baxter 6.300 kgs Fishing bread and maggot on the pole for small 

Carp.

2^nd  Bob Rafferty  4.220 kgs Fishing maggot on the feeder for small Carp.

3^rd  Peter Hutchinson  2.420 kgs Fishing pole and maggot for small Carp.

The latest Winter League placings with 5 matches to fish are.

10 Blanks at Blanca.

15 Anglers turned out for the Xmas Fur and Feather match which was fished on a sunny but very cold and windy day at the Embalse de Ojos at Blanca.

1^st  John Theaker fishing feeder and corn, 2.96kilos.

2^nd  David Hoare fishing feeder and maggot, 2.78kilos.

3^rd  Alan Roscoe fishing feeder and maggot, 1.74kilos.

Fishing was very hard with most anglers not getting a bite, but at least all those who took part went home with something that they could drown their sorrows with. Thanks to Glen of  Mas y Menos, Campoverde for donating a gift voucher for tackle, which he presented  to the winner.

SUNDAYS MATCH.

Good day all. What ever you do, make sure your computer is fully protected, because when you get a virus, its a living nightmare. The problems i have had this last week, is unbelievable. My problem was, i was fully protected with Norton, but kept forgetting about new updates, so from now on i will be checking at least twice a week.
I have had to do a total  system recovery, which wipes out everything you have on your computer. I have lost everything. Most gutting being, i have lost all my pictures, and the only  pictures i had burned to a cd, was the faces of the anglers i have. So please  make sure you look out for latest updates, as that is the only way you can keep these b-----d's out of your pc. The last thing i down loaded was a thing, that improves your photos, and videos, and after that, was when the problems started. SO BE CAREFUL.


The match.

Sunday 6th December.
Club. Kingsholm A.C.
Venue. Manor Farm. (middle pool).
Draw 8.00am.
Fish. 9.00am to 2-00pm.

Two not so good things to report first. 1:- There was a match on here yesterday, which was won with 120lb.
So this lake as had a hammering. 2:- Only three of us turned up. There was a match on the other bank, so we were'nt on are own. Crazy, whats the point joining a club, and not turning up. I feel sorry for Andy who runs the club. So if there is any Members reading this. Cheers well done.
The whistle for the all in went at 9am. The rain had stopped, but the wind was blowing a gale. I set up one rod for the pellet feeder, and fished this through the match. Did'nt really expect much, as i said, yesterday the fish took an hammering, but i was determined to have a bash.
I can never get used to the rod shooting round, when you hook a fish, it still makes me jump. I suppose being a 99% pole angler as something to do with this. With just three fishing, theres not really much to report.
Whats the chances of someone falling in, breaking something,or falling over,with just three fishing, not much chance on that score. Back to the fishing. I averaged just under four fish per hour, to end up with 18 carp
,for 45lb. I lost five fish. Andy was doing a lot of bank walking, and john was chopping, and changing between the feeder, pole, and the waggler. So i wonder who got there tactics right, shall we take a look at the results, Oh! go on then.

RESULTS.

1ST. Me  Peg 1.  45-0-0. Won £40.

2nd.  John Hudson. Peg 2.  15-15-0. Won £20.

3rd.  Andy Cook. Peg 3. 0-6-0. Won nowt.

Sorry i have not been in touch the last few days, but i have had to do a full recovery on my computer, which in turn lost all my setting's,and documents, due to a virus. These B-----d's that do these things should be given life sentences when they catch them. Can you imagine if you had a bussiness, and lost everything.

Well my next match is tomorrow at Manor Farm Evesham, middle lake. Its the last one for Kingsholm A.C.
Up till now only 4 are fishing it. Hopefully more will turn up. I will let you know how we get on after the match, so for now bye, bye STEVE

Well this week saw the weather really change, the morning being less than 10 degrees.
The fishing was just as dire. The match was the 2nd in the 1 to 1 car hire series.
This is a series of 4 matches with the winner, winning a free weeks car hire.
(Thanks 1 Car 1).

The match was held on the Embalse de Ojos, a venue not noted for prolific fishing,
Even in the summer. First time for the club, where we had a tie for first, and second place.

RESULTS as follows.

Joint 1st. Dave (yours truly) Hoare, fishing the pole, and using pellet, with 3.500 Kilos,
And Ian (from the dark side) Haughton, fishing the feeder using pellet, with 3.500 Kilos.
Joint 2nd. Clive (Golf no more) Cleghorn, fishing the pole, using pellet, with 2.700 Kilos,
And Terry (swing I’m ) Screen, fishing the pole , using pellet, with 2.700 Kilos.
3rd. Harold (H) Clarke, fishing the whip for Bleak, with 2.200 Kilos.

OVERALL POINTS TO DATE as follows.

1st. Ian Haughton with 5 points.
2nd. Clive Cleghorn with 6 points.
3rd. Paul Baxter with 8 points.

CARP R US.

The 5th round of the Winter league was fished at the Eden Canal
On Thursday November 26th.
The water was in excellent condition until 30 minutes into the match,
when the local authority decided that there was to much water in it,
and promptly dropped the level by 18 inches.
We needed Mick Hill to jump in again, so the level would rise, but he
Declined this week ,which was a nice change.
The fish did come back to feed later in the match, and the winner’s on
the day were:-

1st. Stan Robert’s. 5.020 Kilos. Fishing bread, and maggot. For small
Carp, and Golden Orfe.
2nd. Paul Baxter. 4.640 Kilos. Fishing corn. For a few small Carp, and a
1.3Kg fish.
3rd. Mick Hill. 4.380 Kilos. Fishing corn, and maggot for Carp.

The Winter leagues placings to date with 5 matches to fish as follows.

Why, oh why, oh why do we do it.
I'll tell you why, because we are all numpty's, thats why.
If i was'nt a space cadet before, i think i'am starting to get there.

What was the match like, it was s--t, crap, bo---cks, and bleeding depressing.
But besides that we had a good day. What went wrong, the alarm clock went off on time thats what.

Think about it right, Groundbait cost £5, Two match pack of worms cost £11.50p.
Half pint of maggots £1.25p That comes to £17.75p to catch a big fat zero.
Can't grumble about the diesel though, as i only live a farts breath away.
Okay i have got that off my chest now. (saved the cat getting his nuts put in a vice).

The match.

                   


Hand went into the draw bag, and out came permanent peg 49. Was i happy with this peg.
Yep i was, pegs 46 to 50 is Bream country.(must of took a bloody holiday though).
So i kind of ,hopped,and skipped to my peg, with a smile on my face.
I had Lewis to my left on peg 48, and Barry to my right on peg 50.
The theory is if you beat the anglers either side of you, you've had a good day.
Well i drew with one of them, and got munched by the other.
So i suppose in theory i had half a decent day.

First hour i lost a fish, on the way in. Second hour i did'nt have a bite.
Cut a long story short, the next bleeding three hours i never had a bite neither.
Yup Blankety Blank, Zilch, Naffin (for you cockney's out there).

Pughy on peg 51, who also had the Golden peg, was leading up to the last hour and a half,
when Barry on peg 50 strangled 3 Bream, and a skimmer to walk the match.
Well done Barry, you saved the Golden peg.
The rule of this club is if the Golden peg is not won by the last match, the money goes into the beer kitty, along with the money we have for our drinky poo's at Christmas. Should have about six hundred quid to drink. Once again well done Barry.
Mind you i would'nt have been so chuffed if i would have drawn the Golden peg.
But thats life, ain't it pughy (tee he).


Richard, (remember him from the last match at Lydney Lake), went walkabouts thinking it would work again, like at Lydney.
Well it did'nt , he packed up, and was gone with forty five minutes left, (quite sensible really).
A puntured football went passed me with'in netting distance. Yup i did, i netted it, for something to do.
Me, and Lewis had a quick five minutes kicking it around, got bored with that,
so went back to looking at my motionless tip, which was frozen in time.
Trevor fell over which was funny when i was told. Wish i could of seen it, it would have been
a hell of a lot funnier.

Fair play, today would have put an insomniac to sleep. But aye it could be worse, i could support Manchester United.

Leeds, Leeds, Leeds.

Anything else i can say about this match,
Well it rained, and then it rained some more. It was windy and cold on the hands.


I think i better stop before i need those anti suicide pills again.

Just found out, that our match is on the Gloucester Canal, at Nethridge Bridge tomorrow.

The draw is at 8.00am.
Fish 9.00am to 2.00pm.
