PLEASURE FISHING,and GLOUCESTER ANGLING CENTRE;S WINTER LEAGUE.

PLEASURE FISHING.

Dick Lewis, and myself fished Drummonds Dubb yesterday.

We wanted to try different baits,so we could use, or elliminate them from using on
Sunday, for our winters league 2nd round.
I fished the pole with pellet, Feeding two small balls of fishmeal Grounbait.
With 4mm pellet on the hook. Dickie was on the feeder, and tried the bread punch,
with breadcrumb in the feeder. For 3 hours neither of us had a bite.
We decided to change to the humble maggot, with me staying on the pole, and Dickie
alternating betwen feeder,and pole.

Dickie was using chopped worm, and caster in is Groundbait feeder,
with double red on the hook.
As for myself, i balled in two more balls of groundbait, and fished double
red maggot over the top.
We fished for a further two,and a half hours.

Dickie finishing with about 9LBs, mostly skimmers.

I finished with two perch, one roach, one chub, and 21 skimmers for about
13LBs.
So we came to the conclusion that it was sod the pellet, and bread.
We will stick with the maggot on Sunday.

Dickie fished peg 9,and i was next to him on peg 8.Both on the far bank.

As for me being a lazy sod, i dumped my kit on peg 8 as that was the
closest peg on the far bank. Steve Bee had this peg on the first match
of the winter league, and it was slow for him, he's a good angler,
so Steve if your reading this, the fish are there now.
Buggers probably won't be there on match day though.

My wish for the draw on Sunday is:-

Road bank peg 7 or 6. Being greedy i prefer peg 7.

(hope your reading this God)
Far bank side, peg 14 would be nice.

Just a couple of pics of our day.

Need more shot on that.

Here it comes.

Its snowing.

The tow on the water was quite strong.
You can make out my float on the left of the picture.
Yellow tip  on an angle.

Nice little bag for 2 and a half hours.
13LBs

P.S Dave Hoare as sent me some more good fun pics, so i will

Dale's had a disaster, he only managed third in section.

He misses one match so that 3 pointer will count.
So at this stage you can now say it is between the top
four, with only three more to fish. Getting very interesting.

Round 6 was fished on 31st january so i will upload these in the
next couple of days. So all the best for now STEVE.

Monday 8 February 2010

Daves results.

Hi all Dave Hoares results from spain below, also good to see spain gets crap weather as well as us.
Me, and Dickie did'nt have any fishing this weekend just gone, so we went to Drummonds Dubb, and dug out three more pegs. Had a foreman visit us, so i took a couple of pictures of him,(or her). The local Swans put an appearance in also.

So first here is Dave's results.

MAGGOTS END.

RODS and REELS.

This weeks match was fished on the Rio Segura at the Eden canal stretch.
The match was an open match.

The day started with a heavy frost, never a good thing anywhere, even more so here.
In saying that the day turned out a bit better with some sunshine and people fishing in just a shirt.
The fishing on the other hand was awful, with half the field failing not only to catch,
but could not even register a bite.

And to think we left the UK for sunnier climes and no frosts!!!!.
I have been in the UK this week and that was probably the best decision.

Quality anglers on the day as follows.

1st Clive ( Golf no more ) Cleghorn 3.600kg

2nd Harold ( H ) Clark 3.370kg

3rd Ian ( From the darkside ) Houghton 2.670kg

All the above fished a long pole to the far bank and used maggot.

Just a reminder to say that it is best not to fish on your own.

If you do fish on your own then find a prominent position so that
you can be seen by all if help is required.

IMPORTANT NEW MESSAGE:

The friday Campoverde meetings will now be held at Marys bar/ restaurant.
Taking the CV 925 from Pillar de la Horadada turn right at the 1st roundabout
into Pinar de Campoverde, then first left and following the slip road, up

Work is still continuing on the Rio Segura at Murcia but is still fishable.
Embalse de Pedrera the water level has risen dramatically and is over
the road at the broken bridge.
Sweetwater the final dredging has taken place and the works personnel have cleared
the surrounding road of all the silt that was deposited there.
The banks are now angled and swims need cutting in!!!!!!.

Anglers Together continues to grow as a club with many friendships

formed over the past 3 years.
Many members fish together regularly and say they are pleased that they have taken up
a sport that they once followed in their youth.
We have the occasional organized outings but the main aim is to introduce members
to find fishing companions and to assist in finding the fishing venues.

The joining fee is 10 euros for new members and 5 euros for renewing members.
If you are interested in joining or finding out more about Anglers Together,
then either come along to one of the meetings or contact Dave. ( Alan is away on his annual trek to Oz ).
