Gloucester Angling Centre's Winter league round 8.

The final round of there winter league was held last Sunday.
With Dale Malpas 1 point in front of Tony Davis, and Mark Brear.
It's going down to the wire.

DATE:- SUNDAY 28TH FEBRUARY.
VENUE:- STONE END FARM.
DRAW:- 9.00AM.
FISH:- 10.00AM TO 3.00PM.

9 Anglers turned up for the final round, leaving 3 anglers per section.

This obviously making Dale's task easier. Again why do anglers sign up
for these leagues, and then spoil it by not turning up. Okay they had
no chance of winning the series, but there was still money on the day
up for grabs. All that they have achieved is the money for the series
payout will be cut, which is unfair on the frontrunners, who have fished
well throughout the series. Well next year Jerry you Know now who not
to invite.

Well done dale 6 section wins out of 8 is a good achievment
by anyone's standards. This is what series are all about,
right down to the last match. Unlucky Tony, you done all you
could winning the match, better luck next year mate.
That raps this series up, time to concentrate on my own now.
Good draw Sunday, and i will be happy. I have got to be due

DAVES RESULT FROM SPAIN.

MAGGOTS END.

RODS and REELS.

The match this week was an open, and held on the now famous 8 foot drain,
but it did'nt fish that well. The day although a bit windy , never caused to much
problem, and with the sun breaking through in the afternoon, it pushed the
temperatures into the low 20's.In saying that , there were some dry nets, and
there was also a good few of us that never broke the 1 kilo mark!!!.
In fact i drew next to my travelling partner Clive, and between us we only
managed a kilo of fish. Several anglers had a good day as shown from the results.

1st. Richard Kendall, fishing the pole using maggot with 7.02 kilo's.

2nd. Ian (from the darkside) Haughton, same method with 6.140 kilo's.

3rd. Alan (the quiet one) Ried, same method with 2.96 kilo's.

H.Clark found to his detriment the immediate depth of the drain while he was
pushing his keepnet out, the end section of his landing net pole, parted
company with the rest of the handle, and he watched it disappear into the murky depths.
So if anyone is lucky enough to retrieve it, you know who the owner is.
Good job he never caught any fish big enough to be landed.

Picture attached of how homely Clive, and myself were.

TIGHT LINES.

DAVE HOARE.

Thanks Dave, bit small that drain, but saying that, at least i could reach
the far bank with my feeder.(ha ha). Once again mate thanks alot, hear from
you soon. STEVE.
Permali's 4th round of the winters leauge this sunday, looking forward to it.
Let you know how i get on Monday, bye for know.

BABCOCKS WINTER LEAGUE.

BABCOCKS WINTER LEAGUE.(Round 3).

FEBRUARY 28th 2010.
VENUE:- TIRLEY COURT (Pete's lake).TIRLEY, GLOUCESTERSHIRE.
DRAW:- 8.30AM.
FISH:- 9.30AM-3.00PM.

10 ANGLERS.

PRE MATCH,and DRAW.

It was raining when all the anglers turned up.It was raining for the draw.
It was raining while the competitors were setting up.The good news the rain
had stopped for the all in,and never came back.A few brolly's stayed up
throughout the match,as the wind was sharp, and cold. Some had the wind in
there faces, and some had it blowing on there right sides. The colour of the water
was like chocolate.

10 Anglers 2 sections, pegs 1 to 5 first section,and pegs 6 to 10
second section. The draw was,as follows.

Section 1.

Peg 1. Roy Wellington.
Peg 2. Paul Jackson.
Peg 3. Andy Salcombe.
Peg 4. Brian Dix.
Peg 5. Steve Bee.

Section 2.

Peg 6. Jason Wellington.
Peg 7. Tom Warner.
Peg 8. Steve Evans.
Peg 9. Terry Reybould.
Peg 10.Graham Hurcombe.

THE ALL IN.

The hooter sounded the all in at 9.30am. The pole lines were fed with mainly pellets.
A few of the anglers starting on the feeder towards the Island. In the summer this
place can produce hundreds of pounds of carp, but with condition's like today's,
no one was over optimistic. All the competitor's had a slow start.Steve Bee on peg 5,
started to catch small carp steadily, and at one stage was winning the match quite
comfortably. For most of the lads,it was catch a couple in quick succession, then
it woild die for 20 minutes or so.As the match progressed pegs 1,and 2 started to
perform, with carp upto two pounds coming steadily to the net.
Steve Evans started catching steadily on the method,
with 2mm pellets moulded around the feeder, and 3 dead maggots on the hook.
Jason, and Tom on pegs 6,and 7 were having gruellers.
With Jason catching mainly Gudgeon.
Graham on peg 10, had a lean couple of hours where he never had a bite, but is
peg came back to life, with half hour to go.Pegs 1,and 2 never had a bite for the
last hour, but by then they had done the damage.Steve Bee had a few hours struggling,
before is peg sprang back to life near the end. Steve probably had the biggest Carp
for about 6lb. Andy, and Brian on pegs 3,and 4 never had a good run of fish, but they
both just plodded on to the whistle.Steve Evans was catching steadily throughout
the match, but the size of his fish were not going to worry the low pegs.
The hooter for the all out came at 3.00pm, to a lot of cheers from most.

Roy Wellington on peg 1, won the match. Fishing the pole at six metres.
He fed micros through a toss pot,and alternating between 4mm,and 6mm expanders on the hook.
Paul Jackson using identical tactics to Roy was a close second off peg 2,falling just 8 ounces short.
Steve Bee on peg 5 finishing 3rd, just 1lb behind Paul. Steve fished at 3 metres,
again with the same tactics as Roy,and Paul.
Steve Evans finishing 4th off peg 8. All is fish were caught on the method, with micros,
and dead maggot. He had to fish about 5 metres to the left of the Island,as any closer,
and he would have been in snag alley.

Pay out on the day was first overall, plus two section wins.

Roy Wellington picking up £50 for first, with Paul Jackson winning section 1,by default.
Picking up £25.
Steve Evans also picking up £25 for winning section 2.
Poor old Steve Bee finishing third in the match won nowt.

Overall results.
