GOOD LOOKING CHAP.

GOOD LOOKING CHAP.
With a nice bag of carp.

Monday 9 November 2009

MY FIRST REPORT.

This was the 2nd match in the series, Jerry,s kindly going to give me the

results from the 1st match, some time next week,so i will upload them as,

and when i get them. Then we can keep up with the series.

The draw was at 9.00am. They lost a bit of time for the draw, but it wasn't that long,
so they still intended to fish from 10.am.

The all in went on time.
So now it was my time to go walkabouts,to watch the anglers in action.

Jake Howe who is only 17, had the first fish of the day, a small carp.
Twenty minutes into the match, and a few small fish have been had.
Peg 11 (phil howe)having the main share. 1 hour into the match, and now a lot of small carp are
being caught. From all pegs except pegs 1,2,3,9,10,and 12.
These 6 pegs are struggling.at the moment.
Pegs 1, and 12 being the normal flyers.

Section 1. Pegs 1 to 4. After the 1st hour are slow, with the exception of peg 4 (jerry farrant).
Section 2. Pegs 5 to 8. This will be the most interesting section,as all the anglers are catching steady.
Plus 3 of the anglers in this section, are all on 1 point, section winners from the previous match.
Section 3. Pegs 9 to 12. Peg 11 (phil howe) seems to be heading this section. With the other
three struggling. On peg 12 Some of you reading this would of heard of Tony davis, who used
to fish for shakespeare.
Many years ago, with the likes of the late great Frank Barlow, Ken Giles and Wayne swinscoe, and co.
He packed up fishing for many, many years, and as probably only been back into fishing for the last couple of years. Welcome back Tony. Pegs 9 and 10 catching, but only bits, and pieces.(sounds like a record).

Started raining heavy now, so spent an hour under the brolly with Dale Malpass, on peg 7.

Three hours in, and peg 1,(john fernyhough) was catching, but very slowly.
Peg 2.(jake howe) was catching okay, but was getting a few quite spells,
as was Roy Davis on the nextpeg.
Peg 4. (jerry farrant) was a different story, getting a fish a chuck, if he carried on catching the
way he was,he was going to be hard to beat.
pegs 5(rob wood), and 6(mark brears) were going neck, and neck, with each other,
although no where near as quickly as jerry.
Peg 7. (dale malpass), with whom i spent an hour, under is brolly, was catching well on the meat.
While i was snuggly under is brolly i took a few pics of him landing some fish.
On peg 8,(rob Mckenzie) to was catching steady, with a ciggy in is mouth, quite happily puffin away.
Pegs 9 (doug blake) and 10 (jerry farrant) were not having a good day. They were struggling big time.
Peg 11(phil howe) was still catching fast, but is fish were all small, he kept losing the bigger fish.
(i have had days like that, glad to see i ain't the only one).
Peg 12 (tony davis) the main man, was now starting to get into is stride, having had a very slow start.
Would he do enough to catch up,only time will tell.

The fourth hour every body started to slow down on ther catch rate, with the exception of Jerry, who
was still catching quite well, although not as fast as he was.
Roy davis had a good last hour, he started to get a run of lumps, between 4lb and 8lb.
(i know these size fish ain't lump, lumps, there just smaller lumps).
Towards the end there were only three anglers fighting for top spot. Jerry,Tony, and Dale.
Roys lumps coming a bit to late.

The match came to an end at 3.00pm, with jerry blowing the whistle.
There was a few moans that jerry blew the whistle 2 minutes early, because he was playing a fish,
and he did'nt want any other bugger catching one after him. Bitter, and twisted if you ask me.

Everybody had enjoyed themselves even though it was cold, with a few exceptions(look at the results
afterwards, you should guess who i'am on about). So everyone started packing there gear away,to await
the scales.

peg 1 weighed in first (a flyer), John weighed in 23-8-0.(tee he).Last in section, hang your head in
shame young man.(old man really, but young one sounded better).
Peg 2 (Jake) weighed in 32-4-0.
Roy on the next peg weighed 56-8-0, OH! thank heavens for lumps.
Peg 4, mister consistancy throughout this match weighed in 92-8-0.
Dale, and Tony new they were'nt going to beat that.
Peg 5(rob) weighed in 43-4-0.
Peg 6(mark) weighed in 47-14-0.
So now it was dale's turn to weigh from peg 7, are you watching tony. dale weighed in 80-12-0.
Even though dale was telling everybody he only had 50lb.(you always get one, don't you).
Tony gave the look of this is going to be close.
Peg 8 (rob),who had a duff last hour, weighed in 44-8-0.
Peg 9(doug), did not weigh.
Peg 10 (jeff) weighed in 6-12-0. You starting to get my drift, who did'nt really enjoy themselves.
I weighed in as much as doug, and i did'nt even fish. (see told you i was good).
Peg 11 (phil) was catching all day, but is problem he was catching the complete opposite of lump, lumps, he was catching those things with just eyes.Wee little things, but he still had an impressive 50-12-0.
Well done buddy.
Now the maestro himself on peg 12.(tony) Could he beat Dale's 80lb. The answer to that is unluckibly
a big fat no.Tony weighed in 76-12-0.
Oh! by the way, if anybody can donate a disgorger to the Tony Davis fund, he will be more than greatful.

So the three section winners were jerry, dale, and tony, who all won £30.
Plus jerry got an extra £20, for winning the match.
Not bad jerry £10 an hour, cash in the hand. (i bet gordon brown hates that)

Well that was my first proper match report, so i hope it was okay. Would like some of you readers
to invite me to do one of your matches, its free, i won't charge you honest. It could be a club
match, an open, or whatever, anyday of the week, except when i have got a club match of my own.
which now it's coming to winter, it won't be many.
So you can see my predictament, i really want to keep this blog going, until i get my website up and running, but i will still keep my blog.
If i don't get anything to write about, or take pictures of, you guys won't want to keep coming back,
if there's nothing to see, or read.

Okay that's my pleading over, so let's get on with the full results, and i think if i'am not mistaken.
I have 80 pictures to upload, that should keep you busy.

The next picture below is, and i swear on my left knacker, to me as got to be the best photograph, i've ever
taken. Didn't mean it, i just took this picture, when i was sat down with Dale, towards the end of the match.
The sun had broken through, and Dale was trying to land this fish. Then i clicked the camera, when the fish was on the surface. Well my camera as got a second or two delay,so as it took the photo the fish went under. Think i'am going to get this one blown up, maybe 2ft by 2ft,(if thats possible)and stick it on my wall.

Picture below is Dale landing it.
