GOOD LOOKING CHAP.

GOOD LOOKING CHAP.
With a nice bag of carp.

Sunday 25 October 2009

LYDNEY LAKE, LYDNEY, GLOUCESTERSHIRE.

Well another one over. Draw was at 7-45am.
The pegs every body was looking for was peg 1 and 2. Now only 6 anglers turned up,so that was a good start to the day. In went my hand at the draw bag,and out popped peg 6.Farthest away from the bream pegs. another good start. Set up two feeder rods, and a pole for the margins (just in case everything went t--ts up.Set the clip for about 6 feet from the island. The all in went at 8-45am. fed the margins with chopped worm.
Filled the feeder with chopped worm, and groundbait, and cast out.Waited 5 minutes, reeled in, and cast back out.Done this for an hour, and nothing, absolutly diddly squatt. Me thinks this is going to be a hard day.
Checked the margins for 10 minutes, and guess what. Nowt. Started to rain ,and blow a gale.
Good day so far,or what. A voice came from the next peg. You had a fish yet.
Geez i ain't even had a bite. The good news neither has he.So i answered politly,no andy not yet mate.Maybe soon. In situations like this, what can you do,just carry on i suppose. An hour later i heard from a couple of pegs down, this is sh--te,should have stayed in bed with the misses.Imagine if you had a quid every time you heard that.Mind you i was quietly thinking he was right. Had a skimmer of about 12 oz, after the 4th hour, and nearly fell off my box, with excitment. Then to more quick bites resulted in one 2oz perch, and a roach a bit bigger. Then the little voice from the next peg spoke.Had any yet. Yes mate skimmer, and two little u'ns
The answer to that was i can't buy a bite. Never mind andy. Just before the last hour,my rod pulled round, and i lifted into a solid bite. 2 minutes later,a nice bream was in the net, about 3 pound. they've moved in.
Oh no didn't get a touch again from that swim. So last half hour i went down by the reeds on choppy, with worm on the hook.
I could not believe it, i started catching perch, straight away. One after the other, okay they wern't massive, but aye i was catching. The whistle went, to end the match. Packed my kit away, and waited for andy to come with the scales. I weighed in 6lb dead. I thought you never know. Andy blanked,so he had nowt to weigh, to every body's delight. Then pughy weighed in. 7lb-8oz. Then dick 10lb-40z.Well thats the money gone. shaun weighed in next. 2oz.(tee he). Then john 6lb dead, same as me.

Summary.
Well at least we got an extra hours kip last night. it was an hard match, but again it's fishing. If we all caught 100lb, evey match, we would then want to catch 150lb. Pegs 1 and 2 did'nt produce today, so it made it more even. And yes i did hook the island at the start, and yes i did try towing it towards me. Did it work, a big fat snap off said no.

I will check my paper work for the next match, and will let you know.
p.s. I'am saving for a video camera,as i wan't to start filming some matches in the winter, which i won't be fishing,as i want to concentrate on the match, and the anglers,so you can watch  them bag up,or make fools of them selves. So if you could help, and click on a few of the google ads, you see on this site. I will get a couple of cents, for every click. help pay for the cam. Cheers for now, hope you've enjoyed it. Until the next post keep safe, and healthy. See you soon steve.

p.p.s. couple of more pics.

Me with my big un.

See my kits nice and tidy.
